Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 11, 2025

1. Scope

This privacy policy describes how the Seedgrade DaVinci Resolve OpenFX plug-in ("Seedgrade", "we") handles information when you install, sign in, and use the plug-in. It applies to the plug-in itself and to the companion components that store settings on your device. It does not cover third-party websites you may visit via documentation links.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account details you provide: Your email address and password are entered inside the Account panel. The password is used only to request a secure sign-in and is not stored after that request completes. The email may be remembered so the sign-in form can prefill it next time.
  • Device fingerprint: To keep track of license seats we create a hashed identifier based on operating-system information (such as host IDs or computer names). The hash is written to a small file in your operating system's application-support directory; we never keep the raw identifiers.
  • Session and license data: When you activate the plug-in we securely cache access/refresh tokens, your user ID, license ID, machine hash, seat counts, and token expiry times so you can relaunch without signing in again.
  • Seat usage information: The plug-in checks our licensing service for the number of seats assigned to your license and whether any need to be released to stay within the limit.
  • Creative preferences you save: If you store presets, LUT exports, or LUT preferences, the related files live locally on your machine and include the grading parameters you chose.
  • Diagnostic information: Error messages and status updates (for example, if a password is incorrect or a network request fails) are written to the DaVinci Resolve log for troubleshooting.

3. How We Use Data

  • Authenticate your account and enable the licensed features you purchased.
  • Associate each activation with a specific machine to enforce seat limits and keep fraudulent use off your license.
  • Restore your saved preferences, presets, and LUT settings so your workflow picks up where you left off.
  • Show accurate seat counts and release older activations when you request it.
  • Troubleshoot support requests when you choose to share logs or other diagnostic details with us.

4. Storage and Retention

  • All persistent files are stored locally: ~/Library/Application Support/Seedgrade on macOS. Uninstalling the plug-in does not delete these folders automatically.
  • Sign-in information is rewritten whenever tokens refresh and is deleted as soon as you sign out or when we detect it is no longer valid.
  • The hashed fingerprint file is only regenerated if you remove it or if the plug-in needs to rebuild it; deleting it will require you to reactivate the plug-in.
  • Presets, LUT exports, and preference files remain on your device until you delete them yourself.
  • Diagnostic logs remain within DaVinci Resolve's normal logging system; we do not copy them elsewhere.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

  • Licensing service: The plug-in communicates with Seedgrade's secure cloud licensing platform over HTTPS. We send only the information needed to authenticate you, register your device, and manage seat counts.
  • No creative content leaves your device: Color settings, presets, LUT files, and video frames stay on your machine unless you deliberately export or share them.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information. We only disclose data if required by law or to protect Seedgrade's rights (for example, investigating fraud or abuse).

6. Security

  • All network requests use HTTPS with certificate validation handled by the operating system.
  • Access and refresh tokens are rotated regularly, and cached sessions are cleared if they expire or if the stored fingerprint no longer matches your device.
  • Files that contain sign-in details are restricted to your operating-system user account; preset and LUT files never contain authentication data.
  • Fingerprints are stored as hashes, not as the underlying hardware identifiers.

7. Your Choices

  • Stay signed out to use the demo mode. In that case, the plug-in does not process your email or password, although it may still create local preference files if you save presets.
  • Sign out at any time from the Account panel to revoke the current machine's seat. This clears cached sign-in information and triggers a license-seat release.
  • Remove presets, LUTs, or the entire Seedgrade application-support folder to clear stored creative data (doing so will also remove the fingerprint and require reactivation).
  • Contact us if you need help resetting seats, updating license information, or accessing the personal data we hold about you.

8. Contact and Updates

  • Support: support@seedgrade.io
  • Updates: We will post revised versions of this policy whenever the way we handle data changes and will highlight significant updates in release notes or in-app notices.

By installing or using the Seedgrade DaVinci Resolve plug-in you agree to this policy and consent to the practices described above.
